Through the Apartment Ministry (AMP), UOI operates after-school Kids Clubs in 22 apartment communities across the Greater Houston area. UOI is one of a few organizations who are successful in leading apartment ministry. One reason for our success is leadership.
UOI trains and supports a volunteer leader for each apartment community. This leader lives in the community and builds relationship with the apartment community management and the families. Because each community is unique, relationships are key to supporting the needs of the families.
UOI reaches over 5000 family members through our Apartment Ministry Program!
Kids Clubs run from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, offering parents a safe enrichment opportunity for their kids. Kids consider the clubs an extension of home and visit Monday – Friday where they receive:
— Homework help
— A healthy snack
— Character education
— Enrichment opportunities that include:
Soccer, Tae Kwon Do, Dance, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics enrichment), Reading Competitions, Computer, Literacy, Boy Scouts, Bible Study, and other special programs offered through community partners like the YMCA.
UOI also sponsors family enrichment opportunities that help strengthen families. Families enjoy community events that include Back to School celebrations, “Family Nights”, Immigration Conferences, Food and Clothing distributions, Domestic Abuse education, Computer Training and Amigas, a program designed to help educate and support mothers with parenting skills and strategies. Church and individual volunteer partners can sponsor events.
UOI reaches over 5000 family members through our AMP. Each apartment community supports the residents who make the community their home. UOI is excited to join with parents and apartment community management to give kids and youth a healthy and supportive community experience.
